How to get rid of boot on shifter? And other quiestion?

I just got a manual car, and i don’t really like the leader boot of the shifter. I want to have it to where i can just see which gear i am putting it in. Because they look so similiar. I need help finding a website to where it’ll teach you to take the boot off of it or buy another gear shifter casing thing that doesn’t need a leather boot covering.

That boot keeps dirt out of the car- and rain and mud and doggy doo. With it off, you’d be looking at the road through a hole in the floor and nothing there will tell you which gear you’re in. Leave it and love it.
