Electric Bike Throttle Control?

I have a EZIP electric bike and was interested in hooking up an extra 12 volt battery to the 24 volt battery totaling 36 volts. Will that blow or break the 24 volt throttle control? (throttle has L.E.D. lights) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2SSqTyRhQk

Running 36 volts on a 24 volt system will smoke the controller or the motor after a short period of time.
