Electric Bike Controller
Can you use a AC designed circuit with a DC Motor?
I found this schematic online of a home made Electric Bike controller and I want to build it but I don’t know if I can hook this up to a DC Motor. They used the words commutator, Armature, and Field which sound like AC terms…
bonus question:the circuit was designed for 24 volts but can I power more or less than that? how much more or how much less? Thanks!

this circuit is a PWM motor controller.
it is 12V armature and 24V field coils.
it has split power supplies because the 555 is 15V max (about) also the gate drive is 15V max
you can redesign this to suit “any” motor voltage
however you need to make appropriate changes to the schematic
